Q: How will this program benefit my son or daughter?
A: The sessions are designed to address specific needs of the individual(s) who enroll. There are no "mandatory" sessions that must be completed, though the first session is typically an ID session where the player(s) are evaluated on a variety of skill sets and later sessions are diagrammed to fit what is recognized as areas that need work. Coaches are also contacted in order to gain more insight as to what a player needs prior to beginning the five week training program. These drills are designed to be able to give a player information they can use outside of scheduled soccer training to help better themselves and need to become part of a regular, at-home training regimen as well.

Q: What is the goal of the program?
A: The goal is increase the training level of each player by pushing a player to operate at a high level of efficiency, focus and speed throughout each session. If a player can develop the habits this program teaches, their training level in team practices hopefully excels to where they are pushing their teammates to levels they'll see when playing against elite competition.

Q: What are the "habits" this program stresses?
A: This program stresses to not just simply "go through the motions" but to challenge yourself consistently in order to become a more well-rounded player. By learning and practicing playing balls with more pace, receiving stronger hit balls, shortening touch amounts, gaining a playing rhythm and pushing the level of speed to a higher clip needs to become a training norm, not just a skill demonstrated in games. If these methods are employed on a consistent basis, training quality in other settings will hopefully be raised as a whole.

Q: What are a few session examples?
A: Again, these sessions are diagrammed for each participant based on their needs. Currently there are sessions being ran to better players at the following:
  • Turning (under pressure, without pressure, in to space to attack field areas, inside for a shot on goal, etc.)
  • Finishing (turning and shooting, dribbling and shooting, corralling the ball from the air and shooting, etc.)
  • Passing (breaking pressure on the dribble and distributing, crossing, long and short passes, distributing with various surfaces, etc.)
  • Dribbling (obstacle courses, various moves, usage of dribbling surfaces, etc.)
  • Receiving (long and short passes, in air and on floor, various receiving surfaces, etc.)

Q: Are there suggested ages that should join the program?
A: Anyone from SLSG is able to join and all ages are welcome.

Q: Is there a preferred number of participants?
A: It all depends on what you're looking for in terms of training type. Individual sessions are more geared toward fixing any mechanic issue in order to become a better player. Adding players to a session will make it easier for a participant to compete due to not simply competing against themselves, but having someone to try to use lessons this program teaches in a game-like setting.

Q: How long are the training sessions?
A: Sessions are scheduled to be one hour long, one time a week for five weeks. If it's absolutely necessary in order to get sessions done before a completed time, it is possible to negotiate four sessions of an hour and 15 minutes a piece.

Q: Why are sessions scheduled to be an hour long?
A: The sessions themselves are designed to be done at a high rate of speed and in 30 minute increments to fill the hour. In most cases, the participants will be playing 25-35 minute halves of soccer during games, so the idea is to not exceed a full game amount of time but to push players to be accustomed to training at a high level of speed in that time frame.

Q: When should we show up for training?
A: In order to get in a full hour of soccer, participants are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled training to complete a proper warm-up prior to their scheduled training time. Participants will also be able to see their session diagram and have any questions addressed prior to beginning in order to shorten explanation time during the session.

Q: What if we have something come up and are late or miss a training session?
A: Training MUST start on time due in order to not compromise the training schedule of other participants. If you must miss a session, you are allowed one date to miss and reschedule. Details are in the "Policies" section.

Q: How do we find out if weather is going to postpone a training session?
A: Any postponements/cancellations will be listed on the Home page of the blog on the day of concern. The blog can be updated on-the-spot when needed, so please check an hour prior to each session to make sure everything is on as scheduled. Even if it's a beautiful day outside, it's still wise to check in case an emergency comes up and training can not take place.

Q: When should I pay for the program?
A: Training should be paid for in full at the first session. You can give a check made out to "St. Louis Scott Gallagher" to Coach Hamburger. Please place in the memo "Precision Training Program". Payment must be made at the first session in order to begin the training program.

Q: Are prices negotiable?
A: Not at this time.

Q: Where are training sessions held?
A: All training sessions will be held at the Metro United complex in Collinsville, IL until further notice.
